Are You a Sinker? Have Trouble Floating? We Have a New Series for You!

Sigma Swimming
Hi All,

I hope everyone is kicking off their summer on a positive note! Those of us here at Sigma are plenty excited for all that we have in store for our constituents over the next couple months. With that in mind, we're very happy to bring to you the start of a brand new series! Now unlike some of our other series, we won't necessarily break down each video week-to-week ( see: Adult Deep-Water Series), but rather highlight both the beginning and main points as we go along. So please make sure to stay tuned on our  YouTube page! Without further ado, see a lovely intro from Perry below, with the subsequent first video of the series - Swim Lessons for Sinkers!

A task such as walking in the water can be simple, but there are some hidden nuances in how people's bodies respond as we get deeper in the water. As Perry mentions, the deeper water will make a sinker feel like he/she is getting pulled more downward, while - if we extrapolate this - non-sinkers will have a little more natural buoyancy at greater depths. This can be nerve-racking for many, especially those with a  fear of going underwater. If that is you, that is OKAY! This series is going to provide a step-wise instruction on how to learn to swim comfortably if you, too, are a sinker. I, myself, am a sinker; Perry talks at length about his own float position not being perfectly horizontal. We understand plenty how you might feel! Evaluate if you're a sinker using this video ( hint: it involves muscle and fat levels, bone density, and even lung capacity!).

Fact of the week :  Swimming shouldn't be just reserved for floaters!  They can't take all the fun for themselves. If you're  new to the swimming world and find that you're a sinker, we highly recommend keeping up with this series because it is carefully curated for YOU! We want to make sure to create an enjoyable swimming environment for everyone, casting a wide net to ensure total inclusivity. Sinkers, fear no more, because Perry is going to be putting out some  wonderful content for you all to both learn and enjoy.  Stay tuned and check out  YouTube for more!

How does my child move up? Come to every swim class, bring your progress report, earn those stickers, and ask your child's instructor or location's deck manager if you have questions.

How do I move up? Attend as many of your classes as possible, communicate with your instructor on your struggles, goals, and where you're at in our curriculum. We also have many adults who purchase a gym membership to 24 Hour Fitness or LA Fitness while they are taking lessons so they can practice 2-3 times between classes.

Walk your way (step by step) into your swimming journey! Glad your swimmer is learning to swim with us!
